MADDEN MONDAY MORNING NOTEBOOK
|
Lets take a look at the NFC. The Home of the USFL Champion Detroit Lions. The question is, can anybody contend with them for the NFC Championship?
The Detroit Lions have a stronghold on the NFC North with a 7-0 record. The competition has not been much and they currently hold a 4 game lead. That Division is almost all but wrapped up. The New York Giants (5-3) and Philadelphia Eagles (4-3) are battling it out in the East with the Giants holding a slim 1/2 game lead. The Giants lost the first encounter with the Eagles and will face them again in Week 14. Last year it was the Washington Redskins & Dallas Cowboys that locked up for the division lead, but both are cellar dwellars with only 3 wins between the both of them.
The NFC North is probably one of the tightest divisions in the USFL. Currently, the Carolina Panthers & Atlanta Falcons are tied for first place at 4-3. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-4) are a 1/2 game out and the New Orleans Saints (3-4) are only a game out. This Division will come down to the end. The Panthers have a very favorable schedule with 9 remaining home games. The Falcons face the Panthers & Bucs down the stretch, but both are road games. Beyond that, the rest of there schedule is considered soft. The Bucs have probably the roughest road with only 3 of there final 7 games at home.
The San Francisco 49ers (5-2) have a slight lead in the NFC West, currently 2 games ahead of the Seattle Seahawks (3-4). The St.Louis Rams (3-5) & Arizona Cardinals (2-5) are not much of contenders at this team.

fifedawg on 2008-08-20: My fault. I thought I had sent you that
info. Anyway, this is how the draft
went. Since everyone had not
completed there franchise moves, we
drafted under last years team names.
In other words, Rock drafted as the
Bengals, you as the Falcons, Big Len as
the Giants, me as the Cardinals etc. etc.
Rock drafted 12th as the Bengals
because of his 7-9 record with them
last year. He took Jake Long as his
pick and traded him to the Green Bay
Packers for there 1st pick in the draft,
Jerry Ball along with his 3rd & 4th
round picks. You drafted 24th because
of your success with the Atlanta
Falcons last year and selected Dan
Morgan. I think you're looking at the
draft and seeing Cincinnati Bengals
and thinking you should have those
picks, but remember you where the
Falcons last year and Rock was the
Bengals.
Willfrancis on 2008-08-19: Fife - You never got back with me on
the issue with the draft picks. I
remember having Jake Long and
another rookie from the draft but they
are not on my roster. They should
had transfered over with me to my
new franchise. Can you give me an
update?
